Class 20(4) [Also in Groups XXV and XXXVI] A sheet metal fastener 6, 15 or 20 for fitting into a corner formed of two surfaces at right-angles 4 and 5 is formed of spring steel or similar hard and resilient material and comprises a base 1, 11 and 12, or 21 and 22 with a sharp projection 2, 13 or 23 extending to one side thereof at or near each end and forming an interior angle of at least 90 degrees therewith at its root, so that when the base is appropriately placed across the corner with the projections engaging the corner surfaces the projections extend at right angles thereto, and when pressure is applied to deflect the ends of the base towards each other and then is released spring tension of the base will urge the projections into the corner surfaces. The fastener may be a flat or arcuate strip or a resilient angle bracket. Its shape may be adapted to that of the cable which it is to secure; it may be provided with a flexible tongue pressed out to increase spring: action and it may carry a coving or cover plate to act as an architectural trim or an electric conduit. Its ends may be bent to form: resilient tongues 14, 16 to releasably secure a cable 3<SP>11</SP>. It may be provided with hook portions 24 to engage a resilient cover plate 25 sprung into position and contributing to the spring action of the base. According to the Provisional Specification the material may be other than metal, the base may be hinged, and may be of non-resilient material, a second member providing the requisite spring tension.
