Abstract

872,954. Lap winding apparatus; traverse mechanisms. DEUTSCHER SPINNEREIMASCHINENBAU INGOLSTADT NIEDERLASSUNG DER SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A. G. Nov. 17, 1958 [Jan. 28, 1958], No. 36871/58. Classes 120(1) and 120(2) Packages formed in conjunction with preparatory spinning machinery, such as gilling machines, are doffed in two stages. Each package is first displaced on to a package-forming roller adjacent a delivery tray and maintained there until an empty tube is placed between packageforming rollers and then, in the second stage, the package is released to roll into the delivery tray. Sliver passes to reciprocating guide funnel 4 over a sliver plate 6 which is pivoted to swing under the influence of a rod 7 in relation to the reciprocations of the funnel 4, which has a motion parallel to the package-forming rollers 10, 11. In the first doffing stage, the package 9 by its own weight is displaced to rest on the roller 11 only when released by a pair of solenoid-controlled plates 19 under the influence of a doffing counter. An empty tube 16 is placed between the rollers 10, 11 as described in Specification 872,955 and weighting blocks 38 are transferred to the empty tube. The package 9 is then released again to roll in to the delivery tray 22 and throw-over levers 41 carrying a roller 42 are actuated to tear the sliver and fold it over the empty tube. To assist the tearing of the sliver, the rotating guide funnel 4 may be momentarily stopped. Reciprocation of the funnel 4 parallel to the rollers 10, 11 is effected by a cam 48, Fig. 2, in conjunction with an arm 12 carrying the funnel 4 and pivoted to arms 13, 14.
