Abstract

872,664. Hold insulation. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. Jan. 5, 1959 [July 9, 1958], No. 343/59. Class 113. A ship's hold is heat insulated by a plurality of panels each comprising a core 12 faced by plywood 14, 16 and having a groove 52 extending along the underface for engagement with a rail 50 running lengthwise of the bottom 28 of the hold thereby preventing transverse movement of the panels. The panels are individually secured to the bottom 28 by studs 30 projecting into openings 24 which are afterwards blocked by plugs 36. The core 12 may be of balsa wood or a honeycomb construction of resin impregnated paper or corrugated veneer. A longitudinally extending recess cut in a hardwood insert in the upper face of each panel serves as a keyway engaged by a member projecting down from the underside of a liquefied gas container.
