Abstract
871,882. Nickel plating baths. INCAR Inc. Dec. 7, 1959, No. 41541/59. Class 41. Nickel-plating baths containing a primary brightening agent, e.g. sulphonic or sulphinic acids, sulphones, or sulphonamides, are improved by adding thereto a fully hydroxyalkylated alkylene polamine. In these compounds the hydrogen of the NH2 groups is wholly replaced by hydroxy-alkyl groups using e.g. alcohol chlorides. In examples, nickel sulphate, chloride or sulphamate and boric acid form a plating bath, to which is added naphthalene disulphonic acid or saccharin, and hepta hydroxypropyl tetraethylene pentamine alone or in admixture with the corresponding hexahydroxy compound. Sulphonated lauryl alcohol may also be added as anti-pitting agent.
