858,718. Electrodeposition of bright nickel. SCHERING A. G. April 12,1957, No. 12076/57. Class 41 Bright nickel is electrodeposited from an aqueous acid solution of a nickel salt, e.g. sulphate-chloride, sulphamate, fluoborate, containing a quaternary ammonium compound of the general formula : in which R is an alkyl group, all three being the same, and X is a halogen atom or hydroxyl group, optionally in combination with a known brightener. Examples are given of Watte baths to which are added trimethyl-or-triethyl-propargyl ammonium chloride or triethyl propargyl ammonium hydroxide and one or more sulphonyl-containing compounds such as sodium benzaldehyde-o-sulphonate,-p-toluene sulphonamide, tolane- 2: 21-disulphonic acid, benzene sulphonamide, or saccharin. A bath is specified containing in addition propargyl ammonium hydroxide. Specifications 525,847 and 858,719 are referred to.
