Abstract

871,862. Personal sanitary conveniences. JOYNER, J., and FRANKLIN & SONS Ltd., J. G. Feb. 25, 1958 [Jan. 28, 1957], No. 3040/57. Class 26. A urinal for personal wear comprises a receiver and a loose ring carrying or adapted to carry the means for securing the urinal to the body, the mouth of the receiver having a preformed outward flange around which the loose ring is adapted to be positioned to hold the flange between it and the body. A flexible penisgripping sheath is adapted to protrude into the mouth of the receiver. The sheath, receiver and ring may be made as separate parts. In the form shown a funnel A is detachably-connected to a collecting bag C (with a discharge valve at E), of rubber and thermoplastic sheet, respectively, by forcing the end of the funnel over the end of a tube 9 on to which is forced the bag mouth 11 over a self-closing flap valve 10. The two ends are sealed to the tube by means of adhesive tape 12. The funnel A has a stiff deformable radial flange 3, with a flat rubber ring 2 bonded thereto after folding round it and received in the outward channel-section flange of a preformed sheath 14. The latter when of rubber has a flange with a relatively inelastic fabric ring bonded to it in the part underlying the flange 3. A loose ring 5 of rubber, preferably fabricreinforced, has a series of elastic radial loops 6, preferably of unreinforced rubber, as attachable strips or integral radiating tongues of the ring 5, (folded and secured as by elastic bands 8), to which body-securing means 7 can be attached. The funnel A may be of rubber, the bag C of thermoplastic sheet or foil, and the sheath 14 may be e.g. polyvinyl, resinheattreated and shaped so that an elastic ring may be secured to hold it to the flange 3.
