839,818. Colostomy appliances. JACOBSEN & FREDERIKSEN A.S. July 31, 1958 [Aug. 1, 1957], No. 24719/58. Class 81 (2). A colostomy container comprises a synthetic plastic bushing 3, the relatively resilient flange 2 of which is attached to the skin by an adhesive layer 10, and a detachable bag 6 of flexible material attached to the bushing. The bushing is of greater length and diameter than the protruding part of the colostomy. The mouth of the bag is secured over a collar 9 on the bushing by an elastic band 7. In a modification, a textile or synthetic plastic layer 11, Fig. 3, of greater area than the flange 2 is secured by adhesive 10 to the side of the flange remote from the skin and to the skin area beyond the flange. The layer 11 may have radial slits.
