Abstract

1474435 Colostomy appliances DOWNS SURGICAL Ltd 12 June 1975 [12 June 1974] 26057/74 Heading A5R . A colostomy appliance comprises a semirigid curved funnel portion 10 flared mouth 12 including a circular opening and a flange 13 for attachment to the user's skin about the stoma and a body portion 14 which tapers to an outlet 15 adapted to be connected to an inlet 16 of a urine collecting bag 11. The flange 13 may have an adhesive layer thereon, and a flexible retaining ring of smaller diameter than the external diameter of the flange may be located around the mouth 12 and provided with means for attachement to a belt. The bag 11 may have an outlet 17 provided with a closure comprising a threaded tubular member 19 receivable in the outlet 17 and fittted with a screw cap 20. In a modification outlet 17 is closed by rolling part 17 up and securing it by means of clips. The bag may be provided with a non-return at its inlet and with a strap for attachment to the user's leg.
