Abstract
871,361. Asbestos cement sheet - making machines &c. JOHNS-MANVILLE CORPORATION. June 23, 1959 [June 27, 1958], No. 21458/59. Class 96. [Also in Group XXVIII] In a machine for the production of asbestoscement sheets &c., the slurry is supplied through a funnel 8 to a vat 1 wherein it is agitated at 4 and formed into a web against an upwardly-travelling felt 2 by its hydrostatic pressure and by suction exerted from a box 22 through the felt 2 which carries it over a tank 47 &c. for draining excess water, and to a mandrel 34 against which it is pressed by rubber-covered rollers 35, 36, &c. over an arc which may be varied by a roll 38, screw 49, and hand-wheel 50 ; liquid expressed at the mandrel 34 may be collected by a trough 90. The felt 2 is tensioned at 91 &c. and cleaned by sprays 92, 93 and rotating blades 44<SP>1</SP>. The mandrel 34 may be adjustably loaded at 80, 86, &c., using weights 88 &c.
