Abstract
437,241. Shaking-appliances of papermaking machines. HOLGERSSON, S. P. H. E., Hammarby, Storvik, and TIBELL, W. A. E., M÷lndal, both in Sweden. April 6, 1935, No. 10741. [Class 96] Felting the fibres of paper pulp at the wet end of paper or board-making machines is aided by vibrating at right angles to the pulp flow, submerged bands, wires, slices, or the apron &c. using alternating current vibrators at 4000-6000 or more vibrations per minute. A band 4, Fig. 1, e.g. 1 metre wide, between a metal apron 2 and the wire-cloth 1 is stretched between springs 5 and shaken by a vibrator 6. The wire-cloth, breast roll, table roll, lips of the flow-box or combinations of these may also be vibrated. The shaken parts may have a smooth surface or be irregular, grooved or carry agitators. The wire-cloth may be shaken by the breast roll, table rolls, or by rolls between which it passes. Shaken rolls may be rubber-covered and spring pressure may be applied directly or through thrust bearings to their shafts. The shell 20, Fig. 6, only of a roller may be shaken and connected by sliding, rolling or spring supports 22 with its core 21 which may be stationary or rotate, an alternating current vibrator 19 being connected to blocks 24 on springs 25.
