549,734. Felted fibrous boards; asbestoscement. HUME, W. R., and HUME PIPE CO. (AUSTRALIA), Ltd. June 11, 1941, No. 7410. [Class 96] Asbestos-cement slurry, or fibrous pulp is deposited from a feed-box 4 on to a rotating foraminous cylinder 2, passes beneath a roller 3 vibrated vertically to aid felting and to increase uniformity, and is subjected to pressure by a belt 9 of wire-mesh, wool. felt, calico, or canvas &c. Suction is applied to the interior of the cylinder 2, and may be applied at 13 through. the belt 9 or rapidly rotated rollers 14 may withdraw moisture by capillary action. The feedbox 4 rises vertically as the thickness of pulp on the drum increases. The belt 9 may be cleaned by water at 16.
