Abstract
871,187. Cutting tubes. KISTLER & CO. Aug. 31, 1959, No. 29636/59. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group IX] A cotton wool fleece 5 passing from a card 1, through heated calender rollers 2a, 2b and wound on to a roller 6<SP>1</SP> is slit by means of a plurality of driven circular cutters 13a supported on a pivotally-mounted counterweighted lever frame 14, the cutters being moved intermittently by hand or automatically into contact with the fleece while it is being wound on the roller 6<SP>1</SP> so that the cut is made progressively from the inside to the outside of the wound roller. The shaft 7 of the roller 6<SP>1</SP> is guided in slots 8 in end plates 11 one of which is axially adjustable relatively to the other. A second cotton wool fleece 5a may be wound on the roller 6<SP>1</SP> together with the fleece 5.
