870,657. Breech buffers for automatic weapons. VERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Feb. 3, 1958 [Feb. 8, 1957], No. 3452/58. Classes 92 and 119. [Also in Group XXXII] A breech buffer for an automatic firearm has a piston 6 displaceable axially in a cylinder against a liquid 1 under excess pressure which allows the recoil and advance of a breech (not shown) to be effected entirely through the compressibility of the liquid. The liquid 1 in the main reservoir communicates by way of a non-return valve 8 with a reservoir 2 in which is a compensating metal bellows 9 filled, through a valve 10, with a highly compressed gas. A silicone liquid of high compressibility may be used.
