462,509. Gun-mountings. MATERIELS ET ARMEMENTS MODERNES. June 25, 1936, No. 17661. Convention date, June 25, 1935. [Class 92 (i)] A device for directly cushioning recoil of high-angle guns comprises a trail-plate 2 fitted with a cylinder 11 housing a piston 7<a>, the hollow rod of which is connected to the gun 1 by a joint 7. Springs 8, 10 are fitted above and below the piston, the cylinder also containing gas and a non-freezable liquid. A cushionblock 12<a> mounted on a guide-pin 12 forms a yielding abutment for the piston 7<a> at the end of the recoil. The plate 2 may be provided with a covering of rubber &c. 14. As shown in Fig. 3, a plurality of similarly-constructed elastic trail plates may be arranged symmetrically about the joint 7.
