Abstract

869,979. Bobbins. HALLMARK CARDS Inc. Feb. 17, 1959, No. 5492/59. Class 120(3) A spool for ribbon comprises a body member 2 formed integrally with flanges 5, 6 which prevent axial displacement of the ribbon, ribs 8, 9 integrally formed with the inwardly directed peripheral surfaces of said flanges presenting shoulders facing the surface of the body to prevent the ribbon from being radially displaced. The flanges may be composed of transparent plastic material or may have apertures therein to reveal the quantity of ribbon thereon. An arcuate spring strip or clip 15 (either aluminium or transparent plastic) may be engaged with the flanges for retaining the free end of the ribbon. A plate 44 may be fitted into the central aperture of the body 2 and held in position by engaging lugs 40 and 41, and advertising indicia and or other information may be printed on the plate.
