Abstract

867,666. Locking nuts &c. BRYSON, W. July 7, 1958 [July 29, 1957], No. 23882/57. Class 89(1). A locking device for a bolt-head or nut 9 used, e.g., to secure a propeller boss 4 to a shaft 6, comprises a ring 11 apertured to fit the flats of the nut &c. and provided with an external thread of opposite hand to that of the nut &c. This thread engages a screwed bore in a member 13 fixed to the boss, or other part secured by the nut &c., by screws 17. A notched tool-engaging flange 18 is provided on the ring, and a cover 19 is secured by the screws 17. For locking several nuts, e.g. arranged in a circle, the member 13 is formed with correspondingly-arranged screwed bores each receiving a ring 11.
