867,512. Electric battery lamps. NEW, E. T. May 17, 1957 [June 4, 1956], No. 15797/57. Class 39(2). An electric battery lamp of streamlined form for use as a bicycle lamp comprises a casing formed of upper and lower shells 1, 2 abutting along their longitudinal edges 3, a lamp bulb 12 behind which is a reflector 11, a battery holder 9 and a switch 6, a spring 10 being provided to urge the reflector forwards against a peripheral flange on a lens 14 to hold this in place against a split ring 1<SP>11</SP>, 211 the parts of which may be integral with the shells 1, 2, and one part being movable at right angles to the axis of the ring to permit removal of the lens. The shells 1, 2 may be hinged together along one side, and a latching device may be provided to hold the casing closed. The upper part of the casing has a skirt which overlaps the adjacent edge of the lower part and this may be formed with a movable directed U-shaped projection passing through a slot in the lower part and engaging a hinge pin. A spring 8 is mounted on the switch 6 to bear on a battery in the holder 9. Where the split ring forms part of the shells 1, 2 the upper part 1<SP>11</SP> may be extended to form a vizor 13.
