Abstract

866,996. Pipe joints. ATLAS BRADFORD CO. Nov. 24, 1958 [Oct. 1, 1958], No. 20872/60. Divided out of 866,995. Drawings to Specification. Class 99(1). The subject-matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that described in Specification 866,995 but the claims are concerned with a well pipe joint which comprises a tapered screw threaded pin and box wherein a seal ring of flowable material fills a groove in the box inwardly of the threads, the threads on the pin enter the groove on full make up of the joint to compress the ring which is secured against radial inward movement by an externally smooth end part of the pin projecting forwardly from the threads at least to the width of the groove.
