Abstract
1,012,713. Pipe couplings. GENEVAC Ltd. Oct. 31, 1962 [Nov. 4, 1961], No. 39550/61. Heading F2G. A collar 10 with at least one recess in its internal periphery is located on a tube 11 by expanding or swaging the material of the tube into the recess. The construction is used as part of a pipe coupling, In the rebate between the face of the collar and the projecting end 1 1a of the tube a sealing ring 12 is housed. When a nut 13 is tightened on the end of a complementary coupling end 14 the sealing ring is compressed between the annular rebate and a countersunk surface 15. The internal periphery of the collar may be serrated to resist rotation on the tube, or may have circumferential ribs, which may be serrated. In other modifications the collar may have elongated recesses or spherical indentations instead of a continuous groove.
