Abstract
866,811. Motor vehicle driving gear. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A.G. March 11, 1958 [March 16, 1957], No. 7853/58. Class 79(2). In a power transmission system for the independently sprung wheels 6 of a motor vehicle the universal joints 12 at the ends of half-shafts 8 are axially resilient so that the use of telescopic splines is avoided. An engine 3 and differential unit 5 which are yieldably mounted on the vehicle frame 1 by elements 2 has power output shafts 10 connected to the wheels 6 through half-shafts 8 having rubber ring joints 12 comprising three-arm fastening spiders 9 secured to metal bushes which are preferably vulcanised in the rubber ring.
