866,748. Photographic cameras. GAUTHIER G.m.b.H., ALFRED. Feb. 6, 1958 [Feb. 20, 1957], No. 3983/58. Class 98(1) Mechanism for automatically indicating the depth of focus in a photographic camera comprises two index members adjustable in opposite directions in dependence on the setting of the diaphragm, the index members co-operating by means of indices with a distance scale and being moved through gearing which is itself operated by the diaphragm setting mechanism through a control cam which is engaged by a cam follower fixed on a toothed member. As shown the members 8a, 9a are carried by toothed rings 8b, 9b, Fig. 3, engaged by gears 16, 17 respectively of a gear train driven by a sector gear 13 having a projection 11 engaging a cam slot 10a in a member 10 which may be arranged to set the diaphragm and the shutter simultaneously. The gear mechanism may form a single unit for easy assembly.
