A photographic camera has a diaphragm with a relatively rotatable leaf bearing ring and a diaphragm setting ring so coupled to a focus setting ring as to allow relative movement between them, so that as the result of movement of either or both setting rings each leaf ring can be moved by a particular setting ring in the opposite direction to the other leaf ring over a range of flashlight values, the diaphragm setting ring being also able to rotate the other leaf ring in the opposite direction over a different setting range. In the embodiment shown, a camera comprises two rings 2, 3 movable relative to each other to vary the diaphragm aperture and two rings 16 (diaphragm setting) 15 (focusing) coupled by links 18, 17. Link 17 has a cam surface 23 which in the flashlight range of the diaphragm scale adjacent index 22 co-operates with a pin 23 or ring 2 so that when either of rings 15, 16 is moved clockwise the diaphragm is adjusted by a predetermined amount. On setting ring 16 to " auto," the links are moved out of the range of pin 24, and the diaphragm is set by tappet 13 having moved downwards by an amount determined by the camera's exposure meter galvanometer setting, and rotates ring 3 by means of projection 12. Simultaneously, a cam 11 on ring 3 controls the shutter speed through pin 28. When ring 16 is rotated to the " bulb " range of its scale it rotates ring 3, through projector 26 abutting pin 27, and varies the diaphragm aperture by a corresponding amount. The shutter setting in this case is controlled in known manner by a cam 29 on ring 16. The link 17, 18 can be replaced by two toothed racks on rings 15, 16 respectively engaging a pinion mounted on a rotatable ring which has a cam edge for engaging pin 24. The diaphragm may be adjusted semi-automatically instead of automatically by rotating ring 3 manually until a follow-up pointer operated through tappet 13 and rod 14 is lined up with the galvanometer pointer.
