Abstract
952,332. Photographic cameras. KAMERAUND KINOWERKE DRESDEN VEB. April 6, 1960, No. 12211/60. Heading G2A. In a photographic camera including an exposure factor setting ring rotatable over a first region for daylight exposures and over a second region for flashlight exposures and coupled to an adjustable diaphragm and a shutter speed setting mechanism so as to control them simultaneously in accordance with a predetermined programme, and wherein the setting ring is coupled to a follow-up pointer for the needle of an exposure meter visible in a window, when the camera is set for flashlight exposures by rotating the ring into said second region a switch disconnects the exposure meter to cause the needle pointer to move out of the window. As shown, the invention is applied to a camera as described and claimed in Specification 952,331 having a detachable objective with a built-in diaphragm and including a setting ring 6 having cams 5, 7 operating through push-rods 4, 8 to control diaphragm and shutter speed settings. The ring 6 also carries a cam 12 which causes the follow-up needle 13 to pivot out of the exposure meter window 17 when the ring is rotated to render region B effective for flashlight photography and on entering this region a control dog 24 on the ring engages a pin 32 to close a switch 33 in the flash circuit including a shutter-controlled synchronizing switch 35, so that firing of a flash bulb cannot occur except at flashlight settings of the camera. Since the ring 6 can be rotated through any number of revolutions and hence the cam surfaces 7, 12 change their slope it is necessary in order to avoid spurious coincidences between the meter needle 16 and the follow-up pointer 13, due to the cam 12 in the range C moving the pointer 13 to disconnect the exposure meter 28, a control dog 23 on the ring 6 depressing a pin 25 to open a switch 26 as the follower pin 15 traverses the reverse slope of cam 12.
