Abstract

897,885. Photographic cameras. GAUTHIER G.m.b.H., ALFRED. Dec. 15, 1959 [March 2, 1959], No. 42622/59. Class 98(1). [Also in Group XL(b)] In a photographic camera having a lens shutter-diaphragm mechanism which may be adjusted to different apertures and exposure times defining a range of uniform exposure value gradation by setting members for diaphragm aperture and exposure time which are fixedly connected together, the diaphragm blades are arranged to be actuable by two displaceable and relatively adjustable members, each of which is actuable only when the other member is secured by locking means in a fixed end position, one such member being controlled by a setting member which is connected to the exposure time setting member and is displaceable by driving means at shutter release from one end position to a position determined by a light meter whilst the other member is manually actuable and is connected with a shutter control mechanism for influencing the amount of open time of the shutter. As shown (diagrammatically) diaphragm blades 4 are provided with two actuating rings or members 3, 5, ring 3 of which is coupled by way of pivoted bell crank lever 6 and cam slot 10a to a setting member 10 which is fixedly connected by strips 11, 12 to a first exposure time setting member I. The member 10 is engaged by a driving spring 14, the arrangement being such that, on shutter release, the members 10 and 1 are released and run down under loading of spring 14 until checked by cam 1b coming into abutment in known manner with an abutment 13a positioned according to the reading of a light meter (not shown). The member 10 is returned to its original position (shown) by a member 15 coupled by way of a gear 16 to a film advance or shutter cocking mechanism (not shown). The member 15 is held in the tensioned position (shown) by a spring urged latch 17 coupled by means not shown to a body release member. The other diaphragm actuating ring 5 is coupled by way of a pivoted bell crank lever 20 and a cam slot 19a to a manual diaphragm setting member 19 which is connected to a further exposure time setting member 25 which has three setting ranges, one for setting in terms of light values in which predetermined combinations of exposure time and diaphragm aperture are set, one for use with flash photographs in which the shutter speed is maintained at a constant low value and one for "B" photographs in which by way of a member 24 engaging with a cam portion 25a the shutter is set for "B" exposures. In order that only one of the setting members 10 or 19 may be effective at a time, a pivoted spring urged latch 29 is provided co-operating on the one hand with a recess 10b in the slide 10 and on the other hand with cam portion 19c and d of the member 19. The same pin 2 of a conventional shutter retard mechanism co-operates alternately with both cam 1a and cam 25c. Specification 802,020 is referred to.
