In a photographic camera including a camera shutter release mechanism and an exposure setting mechanism adjustable by hand or by means of a light-controlled driving device, a manually operable selector number is settable to an " automatic " position and a " non- automatic" position and a locking device is associated with the shutter release mechanism and the selector number in such a manner that the shutter release mechanism is locked when the selector member is in a position intermediate the " automatic " and " non-automatic " position. As shown, selector ring 3 is adjustable to either an " automatic " position (cf. Fig. 2)- in which position the diaphragm for example is set by a driving mechanism to a value determined by an exposure meter-or to a " non- automatic " position, in which position the diaphragm may be set manually to values as indicated on a scale 5 by an index 4. A spring- urged latch 9 for the shutter master number 6 is provided with an extension 9d projecting through an aperture 1a in shutter housing wall 1 and ring 3 is provided with recesses 3a and 3b corresponding to the two positions " automatic " and " non-automatic," the arrangement being such that the shutter latch 9 can only be released by actuation of a spring-urged release lever 13 if either of recesses 3a or 3b registers with the opening 1a. Further, after an exposure and owing to the presence of extension 9d in one of the recesses 3a or 3b, the shutter must be re-cocked before the ring 3 can be moved to the other of its two positions. In a modification (Fig. 1, not shown), the extension which co-operates with the recesses 3a or 3b is formed as an extension of the lever 13, not of the lever 9. In this case the ring 3 may be moved from one of its positions to the other after exposure without the necessity for re-cocking first.
