Abstract

892,955. Photographic cameras. GAUTHIER G.m.b.H., ALFRED. Oct. 29, 1959 [Jan. 31, 1959], No. 36690/59. Class 98(1). [Also in Group XL(b)] In a photographic camera in which coupled aperture and exposure time setting members providing combinations of aperture and exposure time with uniform exposure gradation may be coupled to either manually or photoelectrically actuated setting members, allowance is made for film sensitivity and locking means are provided to prevent incorrect adjustment. Cams 4d and 31c on the photo-electric and manual setting members 4, 31 when in their starting positions, shown in Fig. 1, disengage rods 21, 36 from the film speed setting member 5. The film speed is set by pressing an engaging member 18a to release a detent 18b, 19 and the connection between the aperture and exposure time setting members 1, 2 and a transmission member 32. Index 27a is then appropriately set on the scale- 20 and member 18a released. Manual or automatic setting is selected by a lever 61 which connects transmission member 32 alternatively with setting member 4 or 31 through a bar 34. Locking members 68a, 63b, 63c, and 63d, 31d prevent actuation of lever 61 except when members 4 and 31 are in their starting positions. The setting and transmission members may be annular. Automatic settings. On actuation of the camera release an engaging -member strikes a pawl 76 which releases the member 4. The member 4 is driven by mechanism 4b, 14. An abutment 16 releases a pin 17 and a lever 12 clamps the moving coil of a photo-electrically controlled meter. A lever 10 senses the position of a cam on the moving coil and positions a lever 11 to arrest member 4 in a position dependent upon the incident light intensity. Manual settings. Member 31 is adjusted until pointer 31e is on the appropriate mark of a scale (not shown) on member 5. For flash light photographs a scale 71 or a pair of scales for computing light intensity from flash bulb type and range is or are used. Warning device. Film speed setting member 5 also controls the position of cams 48, 148 which position markers 46, 47 in the field of view of the camera. A pointer 42a on the moving coil meter is also visible and provided it lies between the markers an automatic exposure can be made.
