Abstract

866,268. Letterboxes. KNAAP, J. Sept. 25, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957], No. 30618/58. Class 18. A multi-compartment letter box consists of a number of identical superposed units 1 each of which has two side pieces, a front wall, a rear wall and a diagonal partition 2 extending between the front and rear walls, two apertures being formed in the walls to permit access to the inside of the unit with at least one aperture being formed in the front wall. The partitions are supported by ribs formed on the side pieces and form the upper and lower bounding walls of compartments. A flap 3 covers each aperture into which letters are introduced and a door 4 is provided in either the front or rear wall for the removal of the letters. The upper and lower units of each receptacle may be closed by plates 6, 7 respectively. Angle brackets 8 may be provided to facilitate fixing the receptacle on a wall. The partition 2a in the lowest unit may be dispensed with. A number of receptacles may be placed side-by-side.
