Class 52(3) A rack for storing bottles of similar cylindrical or other cross-section comprises a compartment having vertical end walls and a bottlesupporting basal wall inclined downwardly from the front towards a rear wall, means being provided inside the compartment to locate the bottles of adjacent rows so that the bottles of one row nest in the space between bottles of each adjacent row. As shown, a battery of compartments, which may be fixed or movable units, comprises vertical walls 10, intermediate partitions 11, an inclined basal wall 13 and a sloping rear wall 14. Each compartment is of a width to accommodate a predetermined number of bottles 15, in a side-by-side row, and leave a space occupied by a distance piece 16 secured to an end wall and equivalent to half the cross-sectional dimension of the body of a bottle. A distance piece may be provided for only the bottom row or for each row in which case the distance pieces for adjacent rows are secured on opposite sides of the compartment. Cooling pipes may be provided beneath the basal wall 13 and shelves may be supported by upward extensions of the end walls. If desired horizontal, vertical or diagonal rows of bottles may be separated from each other by ridged partitions 20 partly encircling the body of each bottle and secured to the appropriate walls or partitions by eye-lugs 21 and screws 22. The ridges may be thickened to allow attachment by screws to the rear wall of the compartment.
