A dual purpose tray, which is mounted beneath the evaporator of a refrigerator, comprises two compartments 10 and 11 divided by a vertical partition 9, and a cover 2 which is sloped to guide defrost water through an aperture 5 in the said cover and into the compartment 11, the compartment 10 being used for food storage. As shown in Fig. 1, the tray and its associated cover are each mounted beneath the evaporator 1 on slides 6, 7 and 3, 4 respectively, and the compartment 11 is provided with a drainage hole 12 fitted with a bung 13. The tray may be placed on a grid beneath the evaporator, in which case, as shown in Fig. 4, it is provided with locating members 15. In the latter modification, for use with narrow evaporators, the storage compartment 17 is provided with a cover 24 which directs defrost water into a narrow compartment 18 communicating with a further compartment 21 beneath the storage compartment, the horizontal partition 19 separating the two being removable.
