Abstract

866,057. Loose-leaf binders. TRADE LOOSE LEAF CO. Ltd. Sept. 18, 1958 [Sept. 19, 1957], No. 29460/57. Class 146(1) In a loose-leaf binder wherein the binder mechanism is secured to the spine of a cover by rivets 20, the rivet heads are retained between two superposed elements 17, 18 constituting the spine stiffener. The head 21 of each rivet is passed through a key-hole shaped slot in the inner element 17 and slid to a position in which the head engages behind the marginal portions bordering the narrower part of the slot. When the rivets are in position, the binder mechanism 22, 23, 24 is inserted over the rivets and the shanks of the rivets headed over the plate 22. The elements 17, 18, which may be made from cover board, are secured to each other by adhesive except in those areas surrounding the slots. The cover comprises two sheets 10, 11 of thermoplastic material bonded by high frequency welding at 15, 16 and along their edges, to define pockets in which stiffeners are located. The sheet 11 is cut away in the region of the key-hole shaped slots.
