Abstract
1,234,578. Loose-leaf binders. LAWES LOOSE LEAF Ltd. 27 Aug., 1969 [24 Sept., 1968], No. 45393/68. Heading B6E. A loose-leaf binder associated with rigid, plastics/cardboard laminated or flexible plastics laminated front and rear covers is provided with sheet retaining means formed by one or more springs 1, Fig. 1, whose arms 3 are bent at their free ends into curls 4 which engage clamping rods 5 disposed in pockets 5A, Fig. 2, formed by the free longitudinal edge of a cardboard cover member (6) and outer and inner plastics linings 7,8 welded at 12, whereby the inner and outer loops 10 and 11 define a spine in which are located the sheets (not shown) and clamped between the clamping rods 5. In a modification the rods 5 may be replaced by channels 15, Fig. 5, which are engaged by the free ends of a spring 14, the pockets in which the channels are disposed being formed by welding the linings 7, 8 at 16 and attaching the free edge 7A of the lining 7 to inner wall of loop 11 by welding along a seam 17. In a further modification in which the binder has flexible covers made from inner and outer linings 21, 22, Fig. 7, respectively, the pockets for the clamping rods 5 are formed by welding the linings along seam lines X and Y and the inner and outer loops are welded at Z to include between them a spine defining board 20.
