A loose-leaf binder having its front and rear covers made of P.V.C. sheets 1, 2, between which are disposed a foamed plastics sheet 3 and a reinforcing cardboard sheet 4, has its spine reinforced by a metal plate 5, the ends of which are provided with punched out lugs 6 for cooperation with holes 7 in wire retaining fittings 8 and attachment of the fittings to the spine when the lugs 6 are deformed into contact with the external surface of the fittings.
