Abstract

1386815 Loose leaf binders M J A LAWES 16 May 1973 [13 June 1972 26 Aug 1972] 27462/72 and 39890/72 Addition to 1243752 Heading B6E The loose-leaf binder as described and claimed in Specifications 1,243,752 and 1,277,707 is modified by providing the paper retaining means at locations other than on the inner flat spine. In a first embodiment, Fig. 1, an assembly of boards to form the covers 1 and 2, and strips to form hinged strips 5, 6 is enclosed in weldable material and welded up. At the same time, a strip to form the inner flat spine 3 is enclosed in the material and welded up. This spine 3 is then cut from the remainder and welded to the assembly thereby forming a curve in the spine 4. Paper retaining means are then riveted to one or both of the hinged strips 5, 6. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, an assembly of boards to form the covers 1, 2 is enclosed and welded up together with an assembly of three strips which form the inner spine 3 and attached wings 41, 42. The latter assembly is cut from the remainder and welded to the former assembly as shown, the paper retaining means being provided in the wings. Only one wing may be provided. In a third embodiment, paper retaining means are provided on one of the covers.
