Abstract

865,855. Power presses. FORWOOD DOWN & CO. Ltd. May 14, 1959 [May 16, 1958], No. 16513/59. Class 83 (4). A machine-tool such as a press or a broaching- machine has an inching-device comprising an auxiliary motor 12 coupled through a reduction gear 11 and clutch 9 to an extended shaft 3 of the machine driving-motor 1. The clutch is preferably an electromagnetic clutch fed through brushes 15. A centrifugal over-speed switch 18 is driven through gearing 19 to prevent the speed of shaft 3 exceeding 44 r.p.m. when driven by the auxiliary motor. The clutch may be energized whilst the main electric motor 1 is running, to act as a brake. An electric circuit is described, Fig. 3 (not shown).
