Abstract
865,591. Waveguide accessories. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 10, 1957 [Sept. 10, 1956], No. 27622/56. Class 40(8) An apertured metal shim having the rim around its aperture folded back to form a deformable bead is inserted between the flanged end faces of adjacent sections of a waveguide. The waveguide sections are bolted together through their flanges 1 and 2 with a shim 3 of annealed copper, approximately 0À015 inches in thickness, located therebetween. The aperture of the shim corresponds generally to the rectangular guide opening but is slightly longer and has rounded corners so that the continuous deformable bead or ring 4 will not extend into the waveguide when the shim is compressed, but may be allowed to do so if required, e.g. at a sharp corner.
