Abstract

1,026,345. Waveguide joints. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 20, 1963 [April 3, 1962], No. 12787/62. Heading H1W. [Also in Division F2] A shim 7 for insertion between the flanges of waveguide sections 1, 3 is made of thin metal and is provided with a shallow groove 7B near and extending wholly around the central aperture. The latter may be of rectangular, oval or circular shape. The shim is made of conductive, ductile metal, e.g. copper, so that when flange bolts 5 are tightened the grooved portion of the shim is flattened and the inner edge brought into near coincidence with the inner surfaces of the two waveguides.
