Abstract

1,068,275. Waveguide connections. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. May 7, 1965 [May 12, 1964], No. 19339/65. Heading H1W. The flange 2 of an elliptical or quasi-elliptical corrugated waveguide 1 is held captive against the flange 3 of a conventional waveguide by means of a split annular member 4 provided with a sharp edge 8 which exerts axial pressure against the flange 2. The flange 3 is provided with recesses 5 at points where the electric currents in the waveguide walls are greatest, i.e. at the ends of the minor diameter of the corrugated waveguide. The recesses are of lenticular form having an elliptical inner boundary and an outer boundary formed by a circle having a diameter equal to the minor axis of the ellipse described by the edge 8. The conventional waveguide 3 may have any cross-section, e.g. rectangular or elliptical.
