Abstract

Fibres, films and other shaped articles of polyethylene terephthalate are dyed with a monoazo dyestuff of the benzene-azo-benzene, benzene-azo-naphthalene, benzene-azo-pyrazolone, thiazole-azo-benzene or thiodiazole-azo-benzene series which is free from sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups, and in the case of a benzene-azo-benzene dyestuff, from urethane groups, but which contains at least one sulphonyl-amino group. Dyeing may be effected in the presence of swelling or dispersing agents at boiling or higher temperatures. Examples of the dyestuffs are given.
