862,989. Gas turbine plant. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Nov. 19, 1958, No. 37303/58. Class 110(3). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a lubricating system for a gas turbine engine comprising a high-pressure turbine 17 and low-pressure turbine 22, oil is supplied through a conduit 64 to a passage 98 extending longitudinally within a power shaft 20 coupled to the low-pressure turbine 22. Bearings 47, 49 are disposed between turbine shaft 20 and a high-pressure turbine driven shaft 35 which, in turn, is supported by bearings 42, 44. The bearings 44, 49 are supplied with oil through radial passages 100 formed in a spider 101 and excess oil is collected in a reservoir 104 from which leads a scavenge passage 106. Axially spaced radial ports 108 formed in the pipe 98 and similar ports 111 in turbine shaft 20 permit oil to flow to bearings 42, 47 from which excess oil is collected in a reservoir 110 and returned through a scavenge passage 112. A low-pressure turbine supporting bearing 48 is supplied with oil through an orifice 130 in the passage 98, the appropriate oil pressure being obtained by a spinner 132 which communicates with the bearing 48 through passages 134.
