Abstract
862,986. Visible signalling apparatus. TYLER REFRIGERATION CORPORATION. Sept. 30, 1958 [Nov. 18, 1957], No. 31227/58. Class 118. [Also in Group XXXII] A shopping cart which may be nested with similar carts (see Group XXXII) has an upper basket 11, Fig. 1, and a lower frame 34 forwardly pivoted at 37 and supporting a basket 12 which when loaded pivots into a horizontal position against the action of a spring 36 and operates an indicator 52. One of the frame members 21, Fig. 3, contains a spring-supported member 43 having a hook 44 extending therefrom, which hook 44 is depressed by a hook 47 on downward movement of the basket 12. A Bowden cable attached to the slidable member 43 passes up the side of a triangular frame support 24, 27, 28 and has its wire 51, Fig. 4, connected to a coloured indicator plate 53 slidable within a sleeve 54 having an aperture 55 therein. In another embodiment, Fig. 9, the Bowden cable is fixed to and rotates a pulley 61 keyed to a shaft 58 mounting a flag 62. In a modification, the slidable member 43 and its spring are housed in a separate tube clipped to one of the tubes 21. Specification 847,976 is referred to.
