Abstract

533,918. Hand-trucks. SCOFFIN & WILLMOTT, Ltd., and LEWIN, P. W. Aug. 21, 1939, No. 24055. [Class 108 (i)] In trucks of the kind wherein the load is adapted to be engaged by a hook mounted on the truck frame or structure by tilting the frame and in which upon returning the frame to the wheeling position the load rests against the frame, the frame is provided with a pedal to assist the return of the frame to the wheeling position. The truck frame shown comprises a tubular member 1 that is bent rearwardly at the upper part towards the handle 5 and at the lower part 4 to carry a pedal plate 6. Stays 8 extend from the member 1 to the ends of a bowed axle 7. A hook 11 is mounted on a collar 12 slidable on the member 1 and adapted to be fixed in adjusted position by a setscrew. In operation, the frame is tilted forwardly to engage rollers 17 on arms 16 secured to the axle, with the ground and so permit engagement of the hook with for example, the handle of a bin. Upon returning the frame the bin is raised and rests against the bowed axle. The rollers 17 prevent back running of the truck in tilted position.
