862,298. Cutter chains for mining machines. MAVOR & COULSON Ltd. May 19, 1959 [May 31, 1958], No. 17474/58. Class 24. The cutter chain of a mining machine has its cutter-bearing links 10 connected by auxiliary links 12, and the two kinds of links are jointed by pivot pins 23. Each pivot pin 23 has a tapered portion 26, a cylindrical portion 24 and a serrated portion 30, which portions match the respective bores 27, 25, 31. The cutter-bearing link 10 carries its cutter at 13 and includes the side portions 21, 22 so that the serrations 30, 31 prevent any relative movement (and therefor wear) of expensive link 10. Spring ring 32 is positioned in either groove 34 to keep the pin in place.
