874,733. Chains for coal cutting machines. SPENCER & SONS Ltd., MATTHIAS. Oct. 16, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 24322/58. Class 24. The rollers 1 connecting the links 3, 6 of a chain of a coal cutting machine are formed with flats 7 to locate them relative to the links 3. They are retained axially by a flange 2a (Fig. 2) and a circlip 14. The latter may be replaced by a spring washer 19 (Figs. 3 and 4) retained by a peened-over projection 18, or by the head of a self-tapping screw let into the end of the roller 1. The flats 7 may alternatively be formed on a reduced-diameter portion of the roller.
