Abstract

860,933. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. LEDUC, R. Nov. 5, 1958 [Nov. 5, 1957], No. 35517/58. Class 135. An hydraulic servo-control valve comprises a main valve 1 spring-urged to close, a doubleacting hydraulic valve actuator, e.g. piston 5, having damping means formed by a calibrated leak-path from inlet I between the piston, and its cylinder to chamber 12 and on unsprung pilot ball valve 10 push-operated at 3 for controlling a piston passage 8 leading to the valve outlet displacement of valve 1, as a result of unseating ball 10, tending to reseat the ball. Movement of rod 17 and cam 4 to the right opens ball 10 of valve 20 and allows inlet pressure at I to open valve 20 and follow up the movement of the ball so that inlet pressure acts at 18 on the large area of the differential piston 7 and moves it to the right. Cam 4a on rod 17 moves away from the push rod of valve 20a to keep it closed. According to Specification 654,415 referred to, rod 17 is moved manually and piston 7 operates aircraft surfaces. Movement of rod 17 to the left enables cam 4a to open valve 20a via its ball 10 and keep valve 20 closed so that inlet pressure acts at 19 on the small area of the piston and the large area is open to exhaust at E via a passage around the cams and between the valves 20, 20a, through open valve 20a and around the righthand end of the piston. Movement of the piston with respect to rod 17 recloses either of valves 20, 20a so that the piston occupies a distinct position for every position of rod 17. The cams on rod 17 may be linear or curved.
