Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula T-A-NH-R (wherein T is a 1-theobromine or 7-theophylline radical, A is an alkylene radical and R is a hydroxyalkyl radical which may be substituted by one or more alkyl, aryl and/or hydroxyalkyl radicals) and their acid-addition salts ; and their preparation by heating a compound of the formula T-A-X (wherein X is a halogen atom) with an amine RNH2. The group R preferably has the construction -C(R1,R2)-CH(R3)-OH (wherein R1 and R2 each represents hydrogen or an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl radical and R3 is hydrogen or an alkyl or aryl radical). Advantageously, at least 3 mols of amine to each mol of the halogen compound are used, and the reaction temperature is preferably from 110 DEG to 170 DEG C. Examples are given, the products being isolated as hydrohalides.
