Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0826323/IV (b)/1> and their acid addition salts (wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals and R3 is a halogen atom or a cyano or alkyl radical), and the preparation thereof by condensing dicyandiamide with an amino dihydroxy- or dialkoxy-benzene, the nucleus of which also contains a halogen atom or a cyano or alkyl radical, and subsequently reacting the so-obtained arylbiguanide with formic acid. The products are useful as diuretics. Specification 676,024 is referred to.
