Abstract

858,804. Piston packing. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. May 6, 1957 [May 4, 1956; March 8, 1957], No. 14420/57. Class 122 (1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A rubber packing-ring 24, Fig. 5, for sealing the piston of a compressed air-actuated jack (see Group XXVIII) comprises an internal toric head 26 seated within a piston groove 27, an external lip 28 and an undulating profile 25 bearing against the cylinder wall, and an end flange 29 bearing against a disc 30 forming the piston end wall; the disc 30 and flange 29 having bores 31, 32 maintained in register. In a modification a packing ring 39, Fig. 8, has three heads 40, 42, 43 seated in spaced peripheral grooves in the piston, and two lips 44 engaging the cylinder wall. Specifications 811,485, 831,214, 856,274 and 856,275 are referred to.
