Abstract

858,640. Axial-flow and helico-centrifugal fans. RIJN, J. C. VAN. Feb. 9, 1959 [Oct. 7, 1958], No. 4521/59. Class 110 (1). [Also in Group XXXV] In a ventilating fan having the motor supported, centrally of a mounting-ring 11, on a disc 13 attached to the ring by spokes 12, the fan blades 23 are attached to the rotor element 20 and their outer ends lie along a helix and are of greater axial extent than their inner ends. The interior surface of ring 11 converges to a minimum radius, as shown, giving rise to centrifugal action 'and diffusion. The form of the blades 23 and ring 11 reduces stalling. In a modification the minimum radius occurs halfway along the mounting ring and here the flow is principally axial.
