Abstract

858,278. Transistor and thermionic discharge tube switching circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 18, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 1192/56. Class 40(6). In a switching circuit, a load L is arranged in a path between a high potential and a low potential source B 2 , B 1 with the ends of the load connected through interelectrodes paths of a transistor or thermionic discharge tube to an intermediate potential point, such as earth. Assuming the load to have a low impedance then, with both transistors T 1 , T 2 cut off the current through the load is determined by the potentials B 1 , B 2 and the resistors R 1 , R 2 . With both transistors fully conducting the ends of the load are both near earth potential and substantially no current flows in the load. With transistor T 1 , conducting and transistor T 2 cut off the current is determined by potential B 2 and resistor R 2 while with the state of the transistors reversed the current is determined by potential B 1 and resistor R 1 .
