Abstract
1,010,085. Transistor switching circuits. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. May 20, 1963 [May 22, 1962], No. 20022/63. Heading H3T. In a transistor switching circuit in which transistor 1 is rendered conducting and blocked by signals applied to its base a further transistor 8 of opposite conductivity type to transistor 1 is connected with its emitter-collector path in the emitter-base circuit of transistor and arranged so as to act as a shunt for the collectorbase leakage current of transistor 1 when the latter is blocked. When transistor 1 is conducting, transistor 8 is biased into a non- conductive condition and provides a high shunt resistance for transistor 1. A two-stage switching circuit is shown in Fig. 2, wherein transistor 8 again acts as a shunt resistance for the second stage transistor 1 of the circuit. When a negative signal is applied to terminal 6, transistors 1À1 and 1 conduct and transistor 8 is blocked and when a positive signal is applied to terminal 6 transistors 1À1 and 1 are blocked and transistor 8 conducts to provide a shunt path for the collector-base leakage current of transistor 1. The load 2 may be a tripping element for a switch.
